About
Do you spend your days dreaming of tufted ottomans and paint colour swatches? Would you love a chance to decorate a brand new condominium with a $10,000 decorating allowance? How about the opportunity to win a one-week trip to New York City to attend the Architectural Digest Design Show? Are you 30 years old or younger?
We are looking for BC’s Best Young Designer. Someone who eats, drinks, breathes and lives interior design. Maybe you are in school training to become a designer, maybe you are already working in the industry or perhaps you just love good design. You’re the friend everyone calls to pick out paint colours or to go furniture shopping with. You don’t have to be a professional (or a professional in the making) to enter this competition!
Here’s how the competition works:
Create a 2-5 minute video, upload a photograph or submit a written entry that explains why YOU are BC’s Best Young Designer. You can showcase work that you’ve done, tell us all about your design experience, how you’ve memorized the entire IKEA catalogue or simply explain what you would do with a one bedroom and den condominium and a $10,000 decorating allowance.
Get your friends and family to vote for your entry and pimp it on your social networks – Twitter, Facebook etc. The more votes you get the better chance you have of winning.
Once the voting period has ended the highest vote getters will make up our Top Fifteen Finalists. From these finalists our panel of expert judges will select the best six people as our Semi-Finalists.
Each of these semi-finalists will have access to a one bedroom and den suite at Morgan Crossing plus a $10,000 decorating budget to outfit the place as they see fit. Semi-finalists will also each receive a Flip Cam to video blog their design journey.
After the suites have finished being decorated, the public will be invited to Morgan Crossing to view the six decorated suites and vote for their favourite. The judges will also select their favourite.
On February 28th, 2011 the Public’s Choice Grand Prize Winner, the suite that received the most votes from the public, will be announced and the designer will win $2,000 cash.
The Judges Choice Grand Prize Winner will also be announced on February 28th, 2011 and this individual will receive a one-week trip to New York City to attend the Architectural Digest Design Show.
